Kuru Alala (Eyes Open)

The Tjanpi Desert Weavers is a group of Aboriginal artists who live in small communities throughout their traditional lands in arid Central Australia. In 2008-9 they invited Alison Clouston and Maria Fernanda Cardoso to work with them on their country, Nyaanyatjarra and Pitjatjantjatjara lands. Together the women made new work. The resulting exhibtion toured nationally through 2009 to 2012.

Thanks to Tjanpi and the NPY Women's Council, Balnaves Foundation, Museum and Gallery Services Queensland, the Australia Council, Visions of Australia, and the Gold Coast City Gallery.
